Why amounts charged may vary

While our prices are straight forward -- either $3.99 a month or $29.99 a year -- your card statement or invoice may show a different amount. Here's why:

• The difference is almost certainly sales tax. Most U.S. jurisdictions charge sales tax, and many countries outside the U.S. charge VAT, or value added tax.
• When you switch from a monthly to annual plan, we prorate the cost. So if you upgraded when you had two weeks left in your monthly plan, your bill will be about 4 percent lower.
• If you are outside the United States, there may be differences due to currency fluctuations, currency-exchange fees, or other transaction fees. These are outside of our control and may depend on your payment method.
